Repairs
|
Repairs should be made to malfunctioning components to
prevent excessive, uneven wear to the parts in
question. This will also prevent getting used to a
faulty condition which then habitually works its way
into the technique of the pianist, and the frustration
of musical expression. Typical repairs are:
freeing of sluggish keys, replacement of broken
strings,and repair of broken hammers.

|
Reconditioning
|
Reconditioning is the treatment of the action to make
the existing parts function as well as they can, given
their current condition, and does not include the
replacement of old parts with new ones. Typical
procedures are: general cleaning, reshaping of hammers, and friction treating of points where wear and dust accumulate.

Estimates
|
Estimates can be made on the spot for minor repairs.
Estimates for major repairs and rebuilding require additional time
to prepare
in order to take precise measurements,
confirm availability of parts, and consult with
suppliers.
